22nd Annual Music Box Steps Day

The Music Box Steps are where the famed comedy team of Laurel & Hardy filmed
their 1932 Oscar-winning story “The Music Box.”

Film buffs flock here from around the world to honor the 132 stairs that gave our
bungling piano movers such a hilariously hard time.

Music Box Steps Day is a family film festival intended to enhance neighborhood
pride and educate our youth about this historical jewel in their midst. There will
be free food, live entertainment, a raffle, and screenings of the famous film.

Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic Silent Auction 2016

The Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic Board of Directors cordially invites you to the 48th Year of Free Health Care Annual Event. It takes place on Thursday, October 13th, 2016 at historic TAIX French Restaurant, 1911 West Sunset Blvd. 90026, 6:00pm-9:30pm.
Featured this year; TAIX French Cuisine delicacies, Music, Clinic Volunteer Awards and the Famous Silent Auction! Over 170 of Los Angeles movers and shakers, leaders and officials are expected to attend.

This took a village of deeply dedicated volunteers. One, of the many who have extended a hand and opened his heart over the years is Bill Vicary MD, volunteering since 1971. He is credited with serving thousands of clinic patients and has contributed to the well-being of countless numbers in the Los Angeles community.

of the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic.

Eastside Food Festival

EASTSIDE FOOD FESTIVAL

Mark your calendars – October 2nd the third annual Eastside Food Festival is back at Mack Sennett Studios in Silverlake!

Celebrating the foodie culture that LA has become known for, the Eastside Food Festival brings together the top restaurants from LA’s Eastside communities, as well as some of the brightest culinary minds from LA’s gastronomic scene. While the full list of vendors is yet to come, some of the participating vendors this year include EastSide Food Festival favorites such as Little Beast, Homestate, Jeni’s Ice Cream, Sticky RiceOhana Poke Co, Starry Kitchen as well as newcomers like Buttonmash, Knuckle and Claw, with many more to come. Wine will be provided by Silverlake Wine Shop, craft beer will be poured by Angel City Brewery, and other delicious drinks will be provided by Our/ Los Angeles Vodka, and Ventura Spirits. Once again, proceeds from the event will benefit PATH (People Assisting The Homeless).

Odd Nights in Silver Lake

Odd Nights in Silver Lake will be held both indoors and outdoors at the SIJCC property located in Silver Lake on the corner of Sunset and Bates. Inside the 4000 sq foot space called The Box, you will find over 30 awesome pop ups. Outside we have Food Trucks plus a fantastic Kids Area and music! Every 1st Saturday 5pm- 10pm Free Admission. Pets are welcome in the outdoor area.

Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Community Meeting

Please join the 4th Council District and Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell of the 13th Council District in conjunction with LADWP for a community meeting regarding the Silver Lake Reservoir Complex.

LADWP will provide a reservoir construction update, discuss restoring water to the reservoir and improvement options with the community.

Community Training: Coyote Management

If you have concerns about coyote sightings in your community, please come to a free Coyote Hazing Community Training event on Wednesday, August 31, at 6:30pm.  Experts from the National Park Service and an Animal Services Wildlife Officer will teach tips and techniques regarding how to haze coyotes – training coyotes to be wary of people again.  A coyote hazing program in Denver, CO reduced coyote encounters by more than 75%.  Find out when and where to haze the animals for both your safety and theirs.  Learn the simple household noise-making tools you can use to haze, and how to frighten coyotes when you see them in the neighborhood. Hazing coyotes can have a significant impact in lessening coyote sightings in a neighborhood when properly conducted, and at a community level.

This event is presented by the Northeast Silver Lake Neighborhood Watch — but you don’t have to be from Silver Lake to attend:  everyone is welcome!

LOCATION: It’s being held at the Citibank parking lot and in the Citibank meeting room (2450 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, CA  90039).  On-site parking will be available.  The event, with Q&A, should last 60-90 minutes.
